Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Attendant (BHA) to provide direct and indirect support for patients with mental health or behavioral challenges. Qualifications

• High School graduate or its equivalent required.
• Previous experience in direct patient care and/or patient observations, or completion of one (1) year of progressive education in a human services-related field is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct or indirect observations for patients experiencing mental health or behavioral challenges.
• Report changes in patient condition to nursing or clinical staff promptly.
• Monitor and document patient mood, behavior and activity per established protocols.
• Assist patients with daily activities such as hygiene, meals and mobility as directed.
• De-escalate situations using approved verbal intervention techniques to promote safety.
• Work with clinical staff to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment and protect patient rights and privacy.
