Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Behavioral Health Attendant to support patients requiring observations and collaborate with clinical staff to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the BHA assists with activities of daily living, documents patient mood and behavior, and participates in de-escalation as trained. This role is based at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence with day shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in direct patient care and/or patient observations or completion of one year of progressive education in a human services-related field required.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients as assigned and report changes to nursing or clinical staff.
• Monitor and document patient mood, behavior, and activity per protocol.
• Assist patients with daily activities and mobility as needed.
• De-escalate situations using approved verbal intervention techniques.
• Attend staff meetings and maintain safety in patient care spaces.
