Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado seeks a Behavioral Health Specialist to provide direct patient care to children and adolescents with behavioral health needs across emergency, medical, and behavioral health settings.

Under licensed supervision, you will implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and maintain accurate records in a trauma-informed environment. Night shifts and 24-hour PT schedule support strong patient care delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social services, human services, education, biology, neuroscience or related field.
• Four (4) years of direct professional experience or a combination of direct professional experience and college credits in a related field of study; 30 college credits = 1 year of experience.
• Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR certification.
• Must obtain de-escalation training certification offered by CHCO within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and management of children and adolescents under licensed supervision.
• Intervenes and escalates safety concerns through appropriate channels.
• Assists onboarding of new hires and supports skill development for less experienced team members.
• Maintains therapeutic rapport and a non-punitive approach with patients.
• Leads milieu groups and collaborates on educational and therapeutic activities.
• Implements individual treatment plans and monitors progress.
• Maintains clinical records and 15-minute checks; documents patient progress.
• Maintains competency in crisis prevention and verbal de-escalation; may encounter escalated situations.
• Responds as part of the Behavioral Assistance Response Team by location.
• Manages safety of the inpatient/milieu environment across multiple patients.
