Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a part-time Patient Transporter to move patients safely between departments, tests, and procedures. The role emphasizes teamwork, proper body mechanics, and adherence to HIPAA and OSHA policies.

Under supervision you will assist patients out of bed, into wheelchairs or stretchers, and ensure timely, compassionate service while maintaining a clean, safe environment across the medical center during night shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three months of job-related experience preferred.
• Prior related medical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with medical personnel to transport patients between locations for tests, procedures, surgery, or discharge.
• Assist patients in and out of beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, or medical transport vans.
• Use patient handling equipment per hospital policies and vendor specifications.
• Demonstrate proper body mechanics while handling patients.
• Collaborate with team and maintain communication with supervisor.
• Clean mobility equipment after use (walkers, lifting devices) per policy.
• Observe and report patient reactions to delivery process to appropriate staff.
• Deliver compassionate support to patients and families while adhering to HIPAA/OSHA policies.
• Maintain safe, clean working environment to protect patients and staff.
• Perform other related duties as required.
