Edward Elmhurst Health is hiring a Patient Safety Observer for the Central Resource Team at EDH Main Hospital in Naperville, IL. The full-time 0.9 FTE role runs nights from 6:30pm to 7:00am, supervising patients and maintaining a safe environment under supervision of the department manager or charge nurse.

Responsibilities include constant observation, assisting with tests, documenting observations, and communicating concerns to nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to read, exchange information, and perform basic arithmetic.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor patient condition under supervision.
• Provide compassionate attention to patients needing supervision.
• Maintain constant visual observation and ensure patient safety.
• Accompany patients during testing or procedures and stay with them as directed.
• Record keeping and reporting to nursing staff as needed.
• Educate patients and families about unit roles and expectations.
• Maintain privacy and security of confidential information.
