Job summary

The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Adult Short Stay Unit (LL JCP) on the UI Health Care Main Campus in Iowa City. This 70% night position supports the Nursing team with bedside care for patients with short stays, under RN supervision.

You will take vital signs, assist with admissions and transfers, perform phlebotomy and basic procedures, and help with hygiene and comfort.

Qualifications

• Independently obtain and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Performs phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, Foley catheter removal and cares for patients who are medically isolated.
• Assists with admission, transfers, and discharges; provides for patient comfort and hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Record vital signs and monitor patient status as directed by RN.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide for patient comfort and personal hygiene and assist with mobility.
