Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the Short Stay Observation Unit, primarily nights (10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.) with occasional weekends and holidays. The role supports licensed nurses, communicates patient status, and helps maintain patient privacy and room readiness.

Preferred candidates have PCT/CNA experience, BLS certification, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic hospital setting. Part-time position with 16 scheduled hours weekly, located in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Qualifications

• Must have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter training for Adult and Child abuse.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; CNA/Health Support preferred.
• Experience as Patient Care Tech or CNA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nurse with safe and effective patient care.
• Document patient care accurately in real time.
• Communicate patient information at handoffs and with families.
• Maintain patient privacy and room/area cleanliness.
