Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a patient care assistant to provide direct patient care and assist with non-direct unit coordination. You will support RN staff, document care in the EMR, and help manage admissions, discharges, and transfers in a busy inpatient setting.

The role emphasizes clinical duties, patient comfort, and adherence to hospital policies, with steady night shifts and a 36-hour work week across 3 shifts.

Qualifications

• High School/GED
• 1 year in an acute or long-term care facility OR enrolled in an Associate’s in Nursing (halfway through program) or Bachelor’s in Nursing (Junior year) program
• Basic computer skills
• Proficient in: Phlebotomy and straight catheterization

Responsibilities

• Provides, obtains or performs and documents direct patient care and activities such as: activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, phlebotomy, intake and output, EKG testing, and other treatments as assigned.
• Participates in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives and promotes safety.
• Accurately documents vital signs, weights, I&O, and reports changes to nursing staff.
• Participates in unit activity such as supply stocking and equipment cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
