Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a dedicated patient care assistant for full-time night shifts in Birmingham, AL. You will support basic clinical and non-clinical tasks under supervision, helping with ambulation, daily living activities, and routine measurements.

Responsibilities include documenting observations, assisting with procedures, maintaining clean patient spaces, and performing technical tasks as directed.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with ambulation as necessary.
• Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
• Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
• Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
