Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System seeking a Patient Care Technician for night shifts (7pm–7:30am) to support RN-directed care. Responsibilities include vitals, phlebotomy, ECG-related tasks, patient safety, documentation, and routine nursing assistance in a busy hospital setting.

Required: high school diploma or GED, Maryland CNA certification, and current BLS/CPR. Prior direct patient care experience preferred; training may be hospital-based, in a community college, EMT, or Medical Corpsman

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Maryland Nursing Assistant Certification required.
• Completion of one of hospital-based, community college, EMT, or Medical Corpsman training programs.
• Minimum of one year of direct patient care experience preferred.
• Current BLS and CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care procedures under RN supervision.
• Obtain vital signs, height and weight.
• Perform phlebotomy/venipuncture per policy.
• Provide comfort measures and observe patient condition.
• Record intake and output; document vitals and alarms.
• Assist with setup and positioning for procedures.
• Assist with NG tube, catheter, sutures, dressings, and CPR as needed.
