Job summary
Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Ortho/Med Surg Unit 1 East on the night shift. This unlicensed role supports nursing staff, assists with admissions, mobility, and safety checks while providing compassionate patient care.
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a registered nurse and complete required certifications within the stated timeline.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required, otherwise an eligible student pursuing clinical programs.
- Certification in BLS required within 90 days of hire.
- Multiple eligible CNA/NCP/NCPCT/NCMA/NCP options accepted by Sentara Care Partner program.
- Experience in healthcare settings and patient care tasks preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Buttress admissions and discharge processes and assist with safety practices.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and daily living activities for ortho and Med Surg patients.
- Observe patients, report changes to the nurse, and document as required.
- Support unit operations and participate in unit shadowing and training.
