Job summary

Sentara Health in Williamsburg, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Acute Cardiac / Stroke / Stepdown unit on the night shift. The role focuses on direct patient care, monitoring, and supportive procedures under RN supervision.

The position requires a HS diploma or equivalent plus CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related certification; BLS is required. Responsibilities include vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection and documentation, with emphasis on patient safety.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Various certification programs listed (CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic).
• Active Basic Life Support Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living.
• Monitor vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation and safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection and point of care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and peripheral IV removal as directed.
• Document observations timely and accurately for nursing staff.
