Job summary

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Acute Cardiac / Stroke / Stepdown unit on the NIGHT SHIFT. The PCT will provide patient care, assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and support safety under the RN's direction.

Responsibilities include phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter handling.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required with one of the following: Care Partner Certification, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT/Paramedic, or clinical program completion.
• Current student in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) with RN/LPN/RT/PT completed ≥1 semester.
• Must have Basic Life Support Certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and support activities of daily living.
• Monitor and document vital signs and report changes to RN.
• Assist with mobility, ambulation, and patient safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
• Conduct EKG testing and peripheral IV removal as directed.
• Assist with Foley catheter insertion and removal and other routine procedures.
