Job summary

Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to ensure timely access to hospital services. You will collect and verify patient demographics, insurance details, and financial information to enable prompt registration and smooth care delivery.

You will schedule mammography screenings, coordinate with departments, and handle financial collections while adhering to HIPAA and CMS requirements.

Qualifications

• Registration data collection and verification (demographics, insurance, financial details)
• Knowledge of CMS Conditions of Participation, HIPAA, payer requirements
• Scheduling mammography screenings per protocols
• Liaison between Patient Access Services and ancillary departments
• Financial collections including co-pays and deposits; explain billing and payment options
• Adhere to CMS regulations; obtain signatures as needed (ABN, consent forms)
• Cross-department collaboration and support for patient care areas
• Handle other duties and special projects as assigned

Responsibilities

• Collect and verify patient demographics, insurance information, and financial details at registration.
• Prepare and present required documents ensuring compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and payer rules.
• Schedule mammography screenings following established protocols.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth information flow and patient care.
• Perform financial collections at the point of service and educate patients on billing and payment options.
• Comply with CMS Conditions of Participation and obtain necessary signatures (ABN, consent forms).
• Support patient care areas with timely and accurate documentation.
• Complete additional duties as assigned by management.
