Qualifications

• Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Billing & Insurance
• One year of experience performing admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties; healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

• Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and procedures and regulatory requirements
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admission, including arm banding and forms
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients to facilitate a smooth admission/registration process
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the computer system to notify other areas
• Complete bedside or telephone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance and third‑party information
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; determine need for financial assistance and refer to Financial Counselor
