Job summary

Emerus operates small-format hospitals and is seeking a Night Shift PRN health care assistant to provide technical assistance and supportive patient care across assigned areas.

Responsibilities include collecting clinical data, taking vital signs, assisting with patient activities and wound care, maintaining privacy and safety, and supporting admissions, transfers and discharges. Travel to all facility locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross, required
• Current ACLS/ALS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required in most markets.
• Active Paramedic (EMT-P) license, maintained throughout employment (OR)
• Active Advanced EMT (A-EMT) license, maintained throughout employment (OR)
• Completion of an IV certification course (one-time requirement) AND one of the following: active phlebotomy license or lab assistant certification, maintained throughout employment
• 3 years as a CNA with relevant hospital experience (Wisconsin market only)
• 3 years as a Certified Anesthesia Tech/OR Tech (Wisconsin market only)
• Experience with IV start, phlebotomy, and initiation of EKG, strongly preferred
• For Las Vegas market only: active paramedic license or active A-EMT license or similar requirements

Responsibilities

• Collect, report, and document clinical data including vital signs, height/weight, intake/output, pulse oximetry, and specimen collection
• Collect laboratory samples and perform lab testing in accordance with policies and procedures, COLA and CLIA
• Assist with patient activities and care as indicated by the patient’s plan of care
• Provide superficial wound care and ensure patient safety
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records
• Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment and proper aseptic technique
• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge of patients
• Prepare patients and chaperone during examinations/procedures
• Attend staff meetings and perform additional duties as assigned
• Travel to all facility locations as required
