Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group in Des Moines, IA seeks a part-time Night Shift Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care across age groups. The role requires independent practice, teamwork, and adherence to policies, with rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Applicants must hold a current Iowa RN license, BLS certification within six weeks, and complete mandatory abuse reporting training within three months. English language proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current or compact state license as a Registered Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
• BLS certification within six weeks of hire (American Heart Association).
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Administers nursing care to patients; assess, plan, implement and evaluate care with physician coordination.
• Provide nursing care guided by orders, unit protocols and professional judgment.
• Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families and healthcare team members.
• Participate in ongoing educational activities related to clinical knowledge and professional issues.
• Contribute to professional development of peers by sharing knowledge and skills.
• Deliver care while preserving patient autonomy, dignity and rights.
• Consider safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering care.
• Provide patient/family education and counseling on health problems.
• Use hospital information system to process orders and retrieve patient data.
• Maintain documentation requirements for patient records.
• Work independently with limited supervision under Nurse Practice Act and policies.
