Qualifications

• Requires basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Requires knowledge of all packaging machine equipment used in the Packaging Department.
• Willingness to obtain forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Set up packaging lines correctly and efficiently.
• Perform daily operator checklists at shift changes and startup.
• Verify proper operations and calibrate scales on packaging machines.
• Gather packaging film and ensure proper codes and pricing are printed on packages.
• Use appropriate formers and adjust temperatures to achieve proper seals on packages.
• Monitor packaging quality hourly (item weight, seals, codes and pricing).
• Record film usage and calculate film waste percentages.
• Collaborate with team members in a harmonious and supportive environment.
• Communicate with incoming shift operators about difficulties or improvements.
• Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary work area; report conditions that could lead to contamination.
• Assist Maintenance with packaging machine repairs; train new operators as needed.
