Job summary

Lehigh Valley Hospital, Inc. is seeking an Observation Monitoring Technician for part-time night shifts at our Cedar Crest campus. You will maintain close observation of video-monitored patients from a central station and provide continuous surveillance as part of the patient care team.

You'll interpret behaviors, communicate with care staff, and document in the electronic medical record at regular intervals, with direct one-to-one monitoring as needed. Training and safety protocols are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year technology-related experience.
• Ability to handle multiple interruptions and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to understand and use basic medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Admits patients to the monitoring system; selects proper profiles, protocols, and identification formats.
• Checks for signature on the Consent to Treat form, sets up equipment, conducts quality control checks, and maintains equipment care and cleaning.
• Observes video of patients in real-time and calls staff for immediate responses.
• Prepares staff contact lists and pre-programs direct-dial numbers.
• Maintains records of patient behavior, redirection responses, and frequency of redirection.
• Provides continuous direct one-to-one patient observation.
• Assists in completing direct patient care tasks.
