Responsibilities

• Vital signs are completed and reported.
• Answers telephone, records information, and routes calls.
• Keeps patients' records current.
• Notifies nurse of significant changes within 5 minutes.
• Requisitions supplies and equipment.
• Transports patient as indicated.
• Obtains x-rays and medical records as indicated.
• Assists in chemotherapy area as needed.
• Maintains blank charts for new patients.
• Types correspondence and reports.
• Ensures charts have proper documentation forms.
• Relays messages to caregivers within 5–10 minutes.
• Orders radiology and laboratory procedures.
• Collects co-pays and handles monies.
