Job summary

Corewell Health’s Progressive Care Unit in Farmington Hills is seeking qualified observers to support critically ill patients. The role includes assisting with patient care under RN supervision, transporting patients and maintaining precise documentation.

The unit emphasizes teamwork, safety, and high-quality patient-centered care. Night-shift schedule runs 7:00 pm–7:30 am with 36 hours weekly, and a sign-on bonus is offered for full-time and part-time positions.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required.
• Current CNA certification preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately.
• Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to move or lift patients and equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate Corewell Health customer service standards and behaviors in all aspects of job performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
• Provide the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who requires constant observation.
• Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
• Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
