Job summary

VAST Data is seeking a Technical Escalation Engineer for third shift in Utah to monitor and sustain health of our cluster fleet. The role operates in a 24/7 NOC-style environment, focusing on availability, reliability, and security of services through real-time monitoring and incident handling.

You will collaborate with Support, R&D, and customers, perform initial investigations, document resolutions, and follow SOPs for prompt escalation.

Qualifications

Experience in a NOC or network monitoring role is preferred.
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, DNS).
Excellent written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 shift schedule.

Responsibilities

Monitor clusters using internal tools to detect and troubleshoot issues.
Respond to alerts and incidents following SOPs and escalation procedures.
Perform initial problem diagnosis and escalate complex issues.
Document incidents with details, steps, and resolutions in the tracking system.
Collaborate with Support, R&D, Account teams, and customers for effective resolutions.
Conduct routine checks/audits to identify vulnerabilities or problems.
Assist with infrastructure changes and updates as directed by leads.
Contribute to Root Cause Analysis documentation and deliver to customers on time.
Participate in shift schedules to provide 24/7 coverage (nights, weekends, holidays).
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VAST Data Platform technologies through hands-on training.
Adhere to security protocols to protect data confidentiality and availability.
Provide excellent customer service during incident resolution and communications.
