Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg-Neuro RN for a night shift assignment requiring NIHSS certification and prior neurological nursing experience. This role is located in a hospital setting with a 1:4 patient ratio and 3x12 hour night shifts.

Responsibilities include caring for neurological and psychiatric patients, floating to other units as needed, and adhering to Epic EMR documentation. Travel details offer housing allowances and travel reimbursements for eligible locations.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Compact license must be in hand at submission)
• OR RN license required
• BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skills in isolation precautions/PPE, IV therapy, peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring
• Must provide response regarding any prior employment history with a Providence facility
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required
• Must have a vehicle for this assignment

Responsibilities

• Work in the Medical Surgical - Neuro unit of a short-term acute care teaching hospital
• Care for neurological and psychiatric patients including CVA, post-neurosurgery, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, and TBI cases
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• On-call required, including remaining on call if cancelled from a shift
• Floating to other units and sister facilities as needed
• Epic EMR used for charting
• Provide nursing care to neurological and medical-surgical patients including monitoring, treatment, and emergency response
• Scrub color is open for general units; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are facility-provided
• No parking fees at this facility
• Floating to sister facilities within the region may occur with incentive pay and travel accommodations
• Must commit to 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• RTO requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
• Local radius requirement of 50 miles
• Former Providence permanent staff may return as travelers after 3-month waiting period and must reside outside a 50-mile radius
