Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro Med/Surg RN for a night shift in an acute care unit in Morgantown, WV. Requires NIHSS certification, Epic EMR experience, WV license, BLS, and 2 years of RN experience; ACLS preferred.

The position features a 20-bed Neuro Med/Surg unit, treatments for neurosciences, DBS, stroke and post-op spine, with a 1:5-6 nurse-to-patient ratio. Night shift is 7:00 PM–7:30 AM, with weekend/holiday rotation and travel housing aid.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in WV or compact
• BLS (AHA) certification
• NIHSS certification
• 2 years RN experience
• Strong neuro nursing experience
• Proficiency with G-tubes
• Epic EMR experience

Responsibilities

• Acute care Neuro Med/Surg unit with 20 beds (14 floor beds)
• Patient population includes neurosciences, DBS, stroke, seizures, post-op spine
• Floor patient ratios of 1:5-6
• Nursing assistants available 1:7-10
• Night shift 7p-7:30a
• Weekend and holiday rotation
• Charge nurse coverage 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring with monitor techs; RN verifies in Epic
• RT available 24/7 for floor vents; no vent experience required for RN
• Floating with priority to specified units
• Provide direct nursing care for neurological and post-surgical spine patients
• Document telemetry strip readings in Epic
• Drip titration by physician order or unit protocol
• Unit orientation provided
• Holiday rotation coverage
• Weekend requirements vary by shift
• Candidates must reside outside 50-mile radius (100 miles for Princeton Community Hospital) to qualify as travelers
• WVU Medicine travelers must have 2-year break before reapplying; limit of 1 cumulative year in system without break
• Former permanent staff at Princeton Community, Potomac Valley, and Garrett Regional cannot return as travelers
• First-time travelers may be considered
