Job summary

Vortex Companies, LLC in Martinsville, VA is seeking a Needle Line Technician for night shift. You will load fiber, unload finished rolls, and maintain needle boards with attention to paperwork details. Requires the ability to adjust machinery and perform repairs, while following safety protocols.

The role demands ability to work flexible hours, basic math, and the stamina for 8+ hour shifts. GED/HS diploma and on-the-job training completed are expected; Tow Motor Certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Read batch sheets fully to meet batch requirements.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups and maintenance.
• Operate with initiative and perform duties with minimal direction.
• Demonstrate math skills with fractions and numbers for adjustments.
• Report quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Follow safety policies and maintain a clean work area.

Responsibilities

• Read batch sheets fully to meet batch requirements.
• Assist co-workers in machine setups and maintenance.
• Exercise initiative to perform job duties without direction.
• Ability to work day or night shift and extended hours as needed.
• Requires mathematical skills in order to work with fractions, positive and negative numbers.
• Report any quality problems to Supervisor immediately.
• Work in a safe manner by following safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean work environment daily/weekly.
• Make adjustments to machinery to keep materials within specs.
• Repair and rotate needles on used needle boards.
• Clean and monitor boards for wear.
• Keep inventory of supplies and tools.
• Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein.
