Job summary

Labcorp seeks a Technologist Trainee to join our Microbiology team in Raritan, NJ. The position follows a Tuesday–Saturday night shift from 10:00 pm to 6:30 am, supporting routine and complex testing in a high-volume lab.

Responsibilities include specimen acceptability, SOP-guided procedures, instrument troubleshooting, testing decisions, reagent evaluation, and timely reporting of results to ensure quality patient care. Strong emphasis on safety and teamwork in a busy setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience OR an MLS degree
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
