Job summary

Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is hiring full-time Night Shift Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to support our patients. The MHT provides continuous care, supervision, and therapeutic engagement to patients, creating a safe, structured and supportive environment while serving as a positive role model.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, assisting with activities of daily living, conducting environmental rounds, and guiding patients through therapeutic activities.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One year of related experience, with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques with understanding of mental illness.
• Certifications: CPR and Handle With Care certification; certifications may be obtained during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living and establishing and maintaining good health by using effective, therapeutic communication techniques.
• Conduct environmental rounds on unit for safety and document observations.
• Facilitate patients’ participation in therapeutic activities and groups.
• Implement crisis management skills as directed by licensed staff.
