Job summary

BMCHS seeks a Mental Health Worker to join the Psych Nursing team on Seton 5 West. The role supports inpatient psychiatry under RN supervision, caring for adults 18+ and assisting with daily activities and safety.

You will participate in crisis intervention, lead therapy groups, educate patients and families, and document progress for treatment planning. The schedule is 36 hours weekly, nights, with every other weekend.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or HS diploma with 2 years in mental health or Mental Health Specialist certificate.
• CPR certification required.
• Patient care skills and crisis intervention experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in crisis intervention using verbal and physical de-escalation per CPI policies.
• Assists RN with physical care and hygiene for assigned patients.
• Leads and co-leads therapeutic process oriented and activity groups.
• Provides patient/family education on milieu programming and treatment goals.
• Observes and reports to Nurse Manager/Charge RN when unable to communicate at meetings.
• Evaluates patient progress toward goals and documents in treatment planning.
• Performs vital signs, intake/output, and daily living activities.
• Conducts safety checks to monitor mood and rising acuity.
• Collaborates with social workers and clinical staff to share observations.
