Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, IL is hiring a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for a part-time night shift in the Lab department. The role performs waived to moderately complex testing under CLIA guidelines and participates in quality control and safety programs.

Responsibilities include conducting tests across Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology and Immunology; documenting results; training and possibly leading the section in

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.
• Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
• ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.
• 1 year of hospital laboratory work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, highly and moderately complex tests per CLIA.
• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis and reporting of patient results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions.
• Perform and document maintenance on instruments and equipment.
• Review accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting.
• Identify age-specific differences in test results (newborns to geriatrics).
• Assist in development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
• In absence of a supervisor, serve as Lead Tech for the section or department.

Education

Associate’s degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or completion of coursework in a program for MLT.
