Job summary

Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, LA seeks a Medical Lab Technician for a full-time night shift (6:30 pm–7:00 am) with rotating schedule. You will perform tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, urinalysis and phlebotomy, ensure accurate results, and relay critical findings to physicians.

Responsibilities include operating analyzers, data entry, quality assurance, sample labeling, and collaboration with lab staff to support patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in medical technology or chemical, physical or biological science is required.
• Bachelor's degree in the same fields is preferred.
• Experience with phlebotomy and laboratory testing is expected.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of patient care in a laboratory environment, ensuring patient safety.
• Verify questionable results or samples and repeat procedures as necessary.
• Operate, calibrate and maintain analyzers and equipment used for testing.
• Enter data from analyses into the computer system and monitor quality assurance.
• Prepare reagents, manage supplies, and report critical results to physicians.
