Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform laboratory tests aiding diagnosis and treatment. You will follow hospital policies and may assume charge duties in the supervisor’s absence.

Required: Bachelor’s in health science or MLS, Florida MLS license (or obtained within 90 days). Preferred: 1+ year clinical lab experience, strong communication, organization, and computer skills. Shifts are 12 hours, every other weekend, with rotating holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a health science program or medical laboratory science. A minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience can be considered in lieu of required degree.
• Current Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) license under Chapter 483, Part IV, Florida Statute: 61F-5; or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date. Note: Limited scope of practice will be utilized until licensure has been obtained.

• Perform laboratory tests to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
• Follows all hospital and laboratory policies, guidelines, procedures and protocols.
• May assume charge duties in absence of Supervisor.
