Job summary

Janus of Santa Cruz is seeking a Medical Assistant to support client intake, vital signs, documentation, and care coordination in a fast-paced behavioral health setting. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to promote harm reduction and recovery-oriented care while ensuring HIPAA compliance and patient dignity.

Hours are Thursday through Monday, 10pm–6:30am, on site in Santa Cruz. Required qualifications include completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program, MA certification

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical workflows.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intake procedures, including collection of health history and relevant demographic information.
• Obtain and document vital signs, oxygen saturation, blood glucose levels, and other routine clinical measurements.
• Monitor clients throughout their stay and promptly report changes in condition to licensed medical staff.
• Assist with client discharge procedures and provide basic health education and referrals as directed.
• Support harm reduction and recovery-oriented care practices.
