Job summary

Janus of Santa Cruz seeks a Medical Assistant to support compassionate, client-centered care for individuals with acute intoxication and substance use-related challenges. You will assist with intake, health screenings, vital signs, documentation, medication support, and care coordination within a harm-reduction framework.

The role requires accurate EHR/documentation, collaboration with nurses and behavioral health staff, and adherence to HIPAA.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certification as CMA, RMA, or equivalent is required.
• Experience with electronic medical records (EHR/EMR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct client intake procedures and document health history.
• Obtain and record vital signs and basic clinical measurements.
• Support harm reduction and recovery-oriented care practices.
• Assist nursing and medical staff with assessments and treatments.
• Maintain infection control and HIPAA-compliant documentation.
