Job summary

FirstClass Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physicians in a correctional healthcare setting. The role involves patient assessments, vital signs, specimen collection and basic clinical tasks, in coordination with facility leadership.

Requirements include completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program and at least 1 year of related experience in a medical office or correctional healthcare setting, with a mandatory BLS certification prior to start.

Qualifications

• Standard clinical operating procedures knowledge.
• Infection control and OSHA guidelines knowledge.
• HIPAA regulations knowledge.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Ability to provide patient care and follow protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient assessments and collect history.
• Measure vital signs and collect specimens as ordered.
• Support other clinical areas to ensure continuity of care.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment.
• Administer medications as directed by providers.
• Provide basic wound care and routine clinical tasks.
• Perform procedures like EKGs, TB tests, venipuncture and lab specimen collection.
• Enter orders into the EHR and maintain patient records.
• Work both independently and in a team to meet patient needs.
