Job summary

Byrne Cortland is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for the night shift (N2) at our Cortland, NY facility. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dairy processing equipment, including pasteurizers, pumps, conveyors, and packaging machinery, to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.

The role requires 2–3 years of mechanical experience, familiarity with PLCs and instrumentation, and the ability to work safely in a food-grade environment.

Qualifications

• GED or High School diploma preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in the mechanical field.
• Experience with VFDs, conveyors, pumps, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
• Experience with PLCs and instrumentation/controls.
• Experience with closed cooling systems in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on dairy processing equipment to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems with tools safely.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and restore production lines with PLCs and motor controls.
• Install and maintain instrumentation and control systems.
• Inspect facility infrastructure like steam, compressed air, refrigeration, and water treatment.
• Maintain maintenance records in CMMS and coordinate repairs to minimize disruption.
