Job summary

Autocam Medical in Indiana is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to operate and program machine tools, read part prints, and inspect parts using SPC methods. You will manage tool changes, setup, and precise tolerances for medical device components in a fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates have prior CNC machining experience; Waterjet experience is a plus. The role requires working 3 PM to 1 AM, Monday through Thursday, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement and quality goals.

Responsibilities

  • Read part prints and job orders for all product specifications including dimensions, tolerances, inspection, number of parts to be machined and tooling instructions.
  • Use machine controls to cycle machine through production operations, set up, adjusting tool positions, and review cycle time and spindle rpm criteria.
  • Install specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and load bar stock.
  • Install and adjust cams, gears and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
  • Change, position and secure tools in tool holders using tool monitoring and presetting equipment.
  • Perform first piece sample inspection according to the operation control plan with measuring devices and SPC.
  • Maintain lubricants and coolants and other operator maintenance on the machine.
  • Perform data collection and communication tasks in Epicor and other applications.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities using tools like brainstorming, C&E, and tool tryout sheets.
  • Deburr parts as necessary.
  • Manage multiple machines simultaneously.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and team-player mindset.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

  • Read part prints and job orders for all product specifications, i.e., dimensions, tolerances, inspection, number of parts to be machined and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting tools required.
  • Use machine controls to cycle machine through production operations, set‑up, adjusting tool positions, and changing also to review machine operating criteria such as cycle time and spindle rpm.
  • Install specified collets, bushings, and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and load bar stock into feeding mechanism.
  • Install and adjust specified cams, gears and stops to control stock and tool movements at each station.
  • Change, position and secure tools in tool holders by utilizing tool monitoring system and presetting equipment.
  • Perform first piece sample inspection according to the operation control plan. By utilizing qualified measuring devices, the machinist monitors the part dimensions through continuous checking of part features and process control tools (such as SPC).
  • Maintain all lubricants and coolants, and other operator maintenance on the machine that are used in daily operation.
  • Perform data collection and communication tasks in Epicor and other applications.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and use the accepted tools, such as brainstorming, C&E, tool tryout sheets.
