Job summary

Savage is hiring a Locomotive Operator/Carman to move and unload railcars at our Owensville, IN facility. This night shift position runs on a 7 on/7 off schedule from 6pm to 6am, with a starting pay of $30 per hour.

The role requires timely communication with the crew and strict adherence to safety and railroad rules. The successful candidate will have at least a high school diploma or GED and 1+ year of locomotive experience, preferably with Road Power and knowledge of distributed power and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1 year or more of engineer experience, preferably Road Power, knowledge of distributed power and Multiple Units operations as well as slow speed.

Responsibilities

• Daily railcar movement and unloading of material within the facility safely and timely.
• Inservice railcar repair and maintenance.
• Communicate with train crew, railroad personnel by radio, signals or other means to relay train operations info.
• Prepare paperwork associated with movement of railcars.
• Follow rail rules and regulations as prescribed by Savage, customer, and Railroad.
