Job summary

BMC Health System in Kentucky is seeking a Lead Respiratory Therapist for the 36-hour night shift to oversee staff, coordinate assignments and ensure high clinical standards across respiratory care.

The role requires strong leadership in adult critical care, NICU exposure, and credentialed licensure (RRT). You will participate in policy development, equipment selection, intradepartmental training, and weekly department meetings while ensuring proper staffing and patient safety.

Qualifications

• Education: Degree from an AMA approved program in respiratory therapy; Bachelor required.
• Experience: 3–5 years in adult critical care; level III NICU preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: Licensed in respiratory therapy (Massachusetts); RRT; current BLS/ACLS/NRP.
• Software/Hardware: Meditech; proficient with MS Office.
• Other: Must obtain continuing education to maintain license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support respiratory staff; organize assignment and coverage of workloads.
• Address call-offs on site and maintain adequate staffing for subsequent shifts.
• Act as a resource for staff development and intradepartmental education.
• Assist in development of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Assist with equipment evaluation, procurement, inventory and cost control.
• Coordinate rotations and clinical observations for students and trainees.
• Lead weekly department meetings and participate in hospital committees as requested.
• Billing reconciliation: reconcile daily billing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
