Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to deliver oxygen therapy, operate ventilators, and support patient care across departments. The role requires coordination with the nursing and medical teams, documentation in EMR, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

The candidate will perform diagnostic procedures, respond to emergencies, and contribute to care plans while maintaining PHI confidentiality and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required
• BA/BS or higher preferred

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in oxygen delivery methods and equipment; conducts prescribed procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures; performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates and monitors mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations on plans of care and patient education.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Conducts respiratory care in emergencies and performs blood sampling analysis.
• Works independently across patient care areas and uses EMR effectively.
• Follows safety guidelines and completes regulatory requirements.
