The role requires 2+ years in extrusion, strong mechanical aptitude, and solid communication skills. Night shift operates from 7:15 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, with competitive hourly pay and differential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 2+ years operating an extruder, ideally sheet and/or film extrusion.
• Must read, write and speak English to follow work orders and record data.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic math to enter roll data and monitor material weights.
• Ability to lead in a team environment and learn troubleshooting.
• Good visual acuity to read instructions and inspect rolls for defects.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and safety awareness.
• Follow safety protocols and lead by example throughout the department.

Responsibilities

• Assign tasks to assistants to ensure workflow efficiency.
• Provide guidance and training to new assistants.
• Act as first escalation point for technical, process and safety issues.
• Track productivity of the team.
• Monitor blending of materials.
• Fill in for Shift Supervisor as needed.
• Set up extrusion lines per orders and specs.
• Operate extrusion machines safely and efficiently.
• Adjust machine settings to maintain quality and minimize waste.
• Monitor product dimensions and properties; perform quality checks.
• Identify and correct defects or inconsistencies in the product.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical issues; report major malfunctions.
• Maintain production records, including material usage and downtime.
• Complete shift reports and communicate with incoming/outgoing operators.
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE; ensure compliance with policies.
