Job summary

Liquid Environmental Solutions is seeking a Lab Technician in Houston, TX to ensure liquids meet safety and chemistry standards as they are processed in our liquid processing plant. You will perform analyses, handle incoming loads, and help maintain equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Starting pay begins at $24.00 per hour with overtime potential. A high school diploma and chemistry coursework are required; one year of lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Three hours of college-level chemistry or equivalent wastewater/industrial wastewater experience (preferred).
• One (1) or more years as a laboratory technician preferred (environmental, wastewater, or industrial setting).
• Must be capable of handling a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming trucks and verify information on offloading tickets and manifests.
• Perform routine chemical and physical analysis of wastewater/industrial water samples from incoming tankers prior to disposal at the facility to ensure compliance with city, state, and federal environmental compliance regulations.
• Prepare solutions, standards, and reagents for laboratory analyses in accordance with the SOP.
• Conduct monthly inventory of chemicals, reagents, solutions, and other supplies and equipment essential to laboratory operation.
• Clean and maintain laboratory glassware. General housekeeping within the laboratory.
• Maintain equipment and apparatus used in all tests and analysis.
• Assist plant operators during downtime, as needed.
• Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures as well as federal and state laws, rules, and regulations.
• Maintain accurate files; enter test results into the computer and generate certificates of disposal for billing.
• Manages regulatory paperwork (manifests, bills of lading, logbooks, etc.) in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations for proper recordkeeping.
• Serves as a technical liaison between customers and other departments of the facility. Develops expertise in understanding chemistry of liquids to become a subject matter expert in the field.
