Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Miramar, FL is seeking a Lab Assistant (Referral Representative I) to handle all referrals, receive and resolve complex customer issues, and act as a liaison between clients and referral vendors. You will process specimens, ensure sample quality, and prepare shipments according to IATA regulations.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of clinical lab experience or customer service background, with strong attention to detail, data entry and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
• Minimum one to two years clinical laboratory experience.
• Preferred: customer service and/or medical background.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve, sort and process specimens for shipment to referral laboratories.
• Ensure sample quality and accuracy. Identify problems with specimen types, missing information, incorrect temperature, quantity not sufficient, etc.
• Prepare specimens and packages for shipment ensuring they are prepared according to IATA regulations.
• Handle all internal and external customer contact regarding Referral Testing.
• Report laboratory results using established protocols.
• Contact clients to resolve routine or medical/technical matters related to patient testing and result reporting.
• Perform investigations and provide resolution to complex Referral Testing issues.
• Maintain work area in a safe, functional and sanitary condition.
• Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements.
