Job summary

Sagis Diagnostics is seeking a Full Time Accessioner to join our physician-led pathology group in Houston, TX. This entry-level role requires typing 40 WPM and attention to detail, with hours 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM, Monday through Friday, onsite.

Responsibilities include entering specimen data into the LIS, verifying forms and patient information, labeling specimens, and maintaining filing systems. A High School diploma is required; a Biology/Chemistry degree offers advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

High school education or equivalent REQUIRED.
MUST be able to type at least 40 WPM.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
Office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Chemistry or similar for advancing to other lab positions.

Responsibilities

Enter specimen data into the laboratory information system.
Make sure the proper request forms have been used.
Ensure patient’s full name, DOB, tissue site, date of collection, and physician’s name on requisition.
Label specimen bottles with patient name, tissue site, date, and physician’s name.
Verify accuracy of information and return incomplete items as needed.
Maintain filing systems for laboratory reports, correspondence, and documents.
Handle laboratory communications and coordinate as directed by supervision.
