Job summary

Sonoco West Chicago is seeking an Industrial Electromechanic to support reliability across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems on the 3rd shift (11PM–7AM). The role emphasizes proactive maintenance, root cause analysis, and CMMS documentation to minimize downtime and improve safety and productivity.

The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical/electrical skills, PLC troubleshooting, welding/fabrication ability, and experience with NFPA 70E safety standards, contributing to

Qualifications

• Ability to read mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
• Experience with NFPA 70E electrical safety in the workplace.
• Welding and machining skills as required by site.

Responsibilities

• Maintain mechanical, electrical, robotic/automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and steam systems/equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair drives/motors (AC/DC).
• Weld and fabricate as required; perform shop tasks with basic equipment.
• Document maintenance activity in CMMS and drive preventive/predictive maintenance.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimize repeat failures.
