Job summary

Simmons Pet Food in Emporia, Kansas is seeking a maintenance technician to perform equipment repair and preventative maintenance in the production facility.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and service welding, electrical, mechanical, refrigeration or hydraulic systems; follow Lean and safety policies; and collaborate with engineers, vendors, and team members to keep production running.

Qualifications

• Experience or vocational training in welding, electrical or mechanical repair, and refrigeration or hydraulics.
• High school diploma or equivalent; ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Experience in poultry or food processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair, replace, correct or adjust equipment to ensure it operates correctly and efficiently according to production requirements.
• Consult with engineers and vendors; perform project layout; troubleshoot equipment.
• Comply with safety policies and government regulations; support Lean and operating system concepts.
• Participate in team meetings; foster cohesiveness and assist in achieving departmental goals.
• Perform other duties as needed to support business objectives.
• Physical activities include lifting 75-150 pounds and working in extreme temperatures or noisy environments.
