Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• 7 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry.
• 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
• Strong working knowledge of OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes.
• Conflict resolution, communication, and stakeholder relation skills.
• Solid understanding of construction processes and terminology.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to adapt to new technology.

Responsibilities

• Implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.
• Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training.
• Implements district HSE communication strategies on projects.
• Builds processes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification.
• Leads project HSE inspections and monitors inspection quality and trade safety plans.
• Works with project teams to recommend corrective actions for systemic issues.
• Develops and maintains project emergency response and environmental plans.
• Monitors and audits trade partner HSE performance.
• Participates in on-site investigations and recommends corrective actions.
• Develops and maintains positive relationships with stakeholders.
• Supervises, coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and others.
