Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospital is seeking a Hospital Safety Officer to safeguard patients, visitors, and caregivers. The role emphasizes proactive rounds, incident response, and collaboration with security and clinical teams to maintain a secure care environment.

The caregiver will work 3rd shift (Wed-Sun, 10:00pm–6:30am) and must have a High School Diploma or GED plus at least two years in a health or related setting. Prior private security training is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of experience in behavioral health, corrections, healthcare, or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous visibility and safety rounds to promote safe environments for patients, visitors and staff.
• Identify at-risk patients and notify clinical or security teams as needed.
• Respond to incidents and mitigate safety hazards with appropriate actions.
• Assist in de-escalation and handling of confrontations using least restrictive methods.
• Document incidents accurately and maintain safety records.
