Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 1-3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Non-violent crisis intervention training required within 6 months of hire.
• Firearms qualifications; pass bi-annual firearms qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Protects patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and mitigating environment of care safety hazards.
• Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of all hospital property to include all parking lots and decks.
• Enforces policies such as parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, and tobacco-free/smoking policy.
• Monitors hospital activity on closed circuit television and responds to emergencies as needed.
• Intervenes in patient, visitor and staff confrontations as appropriate.
• Documents all duties performed, including daily activity logs and incident reports.
• Maintains and demonstrates emergency procedures, alarm response, evacuation and disaster plans.
• Responds to emergency situations and hospital alarms as designated.
