Job summary

Mercy Health in the Youngstown market is seeking a Police Officer for Protective Services to safeguard patients, visitors and staff across Mercy Health facilities. You will patrol grounds, respond to radio and phone calls, and participate in investigations when warranted.

Valid driver’s license and BLS certification within 6 months, plus Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification within 6 months, are required. 1–3 years of security or law enforcement experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate's degree is preferred.
• 1-3 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience is preferred.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• BLS Basic Life Support certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Non-violent crisis intervention training required within 6 months of hire.
• Firearms qualifications must be maintained; bi-annual qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Protect patients, visitors and employees by patrolling and escorts.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies; perform investigations as needed.
• Enforce hospital policies and safety procedures.
• Monitor security equipment and maintain post safety.
• Prepare incident reports and daily activity logs.
