Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Housekeeping Assistant Specialist I for the Feinberg/Galter location in Chicago. The role involves heavy cleaning of operating rooms, patient rooms and public areas on a 40-hour week schedule with night shifts from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, including every other weekend and all holidays.

The position is non-exempt with eligibility for overtime and benefits starting the first of the month following start.

Qualifications

• Ability to understand oral instructions.
• High School diploma or GED.
• One to two years of housekeeping experience.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors.
• Orientate new housekeeping assistants to the department.
• Perform general and heavy cleaning of offices, patient rooms, labs, and public areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment and apply floor finishes.
• Assist in moving furniture and freight as directed.
• Return keys and pagers at shift end.
